Company Background
In 2013, one of the founders of Viafy was talking on the phone to his mother, who serves as a school bus aide, listening to the issues they were facing with bus delays. At the same time, while a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he was tracking his Domino’s pizza delivery in real-time on his smartphone…in that moment, he thought “if we can track our pizza, why can’t we track our kids?” and Viafy was born!
Today, our suite of hardware and software solutions have been implemented in thousands of buses across the world. Through our agile platform, school districts are saving thousands of dollars a year on bus maintenance, inefficient routing, and idling vehicles. In many of these same school districts, parents are enjoying the benefits of tracking the school bus commute via our real-time Viafy app.
Viafy is backed by a leading international tech company, GMS. Founded in 1978, GMS is one South America’s longest running tech companies.
